Assetto Corsa EVO 0.2 is now live on Steam. In the official release announcement, the team says this update focuses on two major game modes, added content, performance work, and a wide batch of gameplay, UI, and input changes.

What changed

Features

  • Added Open Mode and Career Mode.
  • Open Mode provides access to all in-game cars without limitations, with local garage persistence for customized and saved cars.
  • Career Mode remains the progression-focused mode and no longer depends on backend gameplay flow.
  • Both modes are available offline; Special Events still require an online connection.
  • Initial startup now prompts players to create a profile and choose a mode, with switching available later.
  • Performance improvements were added for traditional screens, VR, and triple-screen setups.
  • UI/controls updates include controls-page input polling, a cancel button, video-settings tooltips, and keyboard/controller support for dual-handle sliders.

Cars

  • Added 7 cars:
    • Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo Evoluzione
    • Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA
    • Lotus Exige V6 Cup
    • Honda NSX-R (92R)
    • Maserati GT2
    • Mazda Miata (MX-5) NA
    • Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (964)
  • Open Mode adds an “All Cars” button for quick selection and optional transfer into the garage.
  • Vehicle UI/input filtering and car-thumbnail presentation were updated.

Tracks

  • Added Circuit of the Americas with GP and National layouts.
  • Added Donington Park Circuit with GP and National layouts.

Physics

  • Re-enabled fuel and battery consumption.
  • Re-enabled gearbox damage.
  • Updated handling and setup for the Camaro ZL1 and ZL1 1LE.
  • Tweaked visual tyre flex.
  • VR updates include a VR TV camera set, dynamic mirror capture by default, runtime video-setting changes, enhanced reflections, and DLSS.

Fixes

  • Fixed a VRAM leak in the UI engine that caused performance degradation over time.
  • Fixed invalid laps appearing as best laps in timetables.
  • Fixed predicted/delta finish-line spikes.
  • Fixed multiple controller-navigation, input-device, and showroom-control issues.
  • Fixed automatic gearbox shift audio, car flickering in radar, electronics setup transfer to track, and several car-data/localization issues.

For league ops, we should confirm event regulations around fuel use and gearbox damage, decide whether new cars/tracks enter our rotation, and brief drivers on the new Open/Career split plus the offline/online behavior for Special Events.
