Project Motor Racing adds free PMR Test Centre via ModHub

A new free PMR Test Centre track complex is now available on all platforms via the ModHub, with six layouts, open test areas, and multiplayer/custom lobby support.

cars

Project Motor Racing has announced the free release of the PMR Test Centre, a former internal development facility that has been expanded into a full racing complex for drivers, testers, and creators. The official announcement says it is available now on all platforms via the official PMR Test Centre post.

What changed

Cars

  • The PMR Test Centre has been released for free via the ModHub.
  • It began as an internal space used to test surface materials, force feedback, gamepad rumble, and car behavior across changing grip levels.
  • It has now been expanded into a full racing complex with multiple layouts and open test areas.
  • The announcement states it can be used not only for testing, but also for racing in Single Player Race Weekend and Multiplayer Custom Lobbies.

Tracks

  • The facility is set near Santa Giustina in Italy.
  • It includes six layouts:
    • Racing Layout
    • Big Loop
    • Small Loop
    • Small Needle Skidpad
    • Big Needle Route
    • Playground
  • The Playground layout allows free driving across the complex with penalties turned off, including the original surface test strips.

Modding

  • The Test Centre is intended to support modders as well as drivers.
  • A "How to Build a Track" guide is planned soon.
  • That guide will include sample files so users can build the Racing Layout, modify parts of the Test Centre, or use it as a base for new layouts.

For league ops, we should treat this as mod content: confirm every driver has installed the Test Centre from ModHub before adding it to any hosted session.

From the changelog

Structured change list parsed from the official notes.

cars

  • The PMR Test Centre was originally built as an internal development space for Project Motor Racing. A practical, no-nonsense proving ground, where we could test different surface materials, fine-tune force feedback, refine gamepad rumble, and better understand how each car behaved across changing grip levels. In other words, less glamour, more “does this kerb feel right at 180 km/h?” Over time, though, the idea grew. What began as a simple test area has now been expanded, and turned into a full racing complex, complete with multiple layouts, open test areas, and enough variety to make it useful not only for drivers, but also for creators. And that is why we are releasing it for free via the ModHub. That and as a big thank you to our community. To everyone who has raced, tested, reported, modded, argued over tyre temperatures, asked for better tools, shared feedback, put up a kind review on Steam or elsewhere, and helped push Project Motor Racing forward. This is something built from that spirit. A place to drive, experiment, learn, and create.

It has a different purpose. It is a playground. A workshop. A blank canvas with racing lines. This track can also be used for some racing action! Fire up a Race Weekend in Single Player or a Custom Lobby in Multiplayer, and put all that testing into practice in a race against others. Before you do anything though, be sure you and your friends download the track via the ModHub.
Six Different Layouts
Featuring six different layouts, each with its own characteristic and purpose, this test facility covers all the basics to test not just cars, but also to further develop your skills. Both as a driver, and modder. Racing Layout: designed as a complete circuit with the expected trackside details and flow. Big Loop: built for high-speed running and oval-style testing. Small Loop: for shorter sessions. Small Needle Skidpad: for sliding, drifting, and experimenting. Big Needle Route: combining a more traditional racing layout with a large oval-style banking section. Playground: an open area where, with penalties turned off, you can drive freely across the complex, including the original surface test strips that started the whole thing. Choose the layout that best suits your needs, and get testing.
The Modding Community
The Test Centre is also designed with modders in mind. Alongside the release, we will soon publish a “How to Build a Track” guide that walks users through how the PMR Test Centre was created. The guide will include sample files, allowing interested players to build the Racing Layout, modify parts of the Test Centre, or even use it as a starting point for entirely new layouts. That matters because Project Motor Racing has always been about more than simply handing players a finished thing and saying, “there you go.” A serious sim lives through its community: through drivers, leagues, painters, modders, testers, and the people who look at a corner and think, “I can make something out of that.” Use it to race. Use it to test. Use it to throw a car sideways. Use it to understand how surfaces, kerbs, grip, speed, braking, and vehicle balance come together. Or use it as the foundation for something completely your own. From a humble internal test strip to a full community playground, the PMR Test Centre is our way of opening the garage doors a little wider. The PMR Test Centre is available now on all platforms via the ModHub. Thank you for driving with us. We hope you continue to enjoy Project Motor Racing.
