Project Motor Racing Update 2.1 adds GT3/GT4 rebuild, Aussie Rivals Pack, and Join-in-Progress
Update 2.1 delivers a major GT3 and GT4 handling overhaul, adds the free Holden Commodore VF via the Aussie Rivals Pack, introduces Join-in-Progress for custom lobbies, and includes VR, triple-screen, AI, UI, replay, and input updates.
Update 2.1 is live for Project Motor Racing, and it is centered on class handling revisions, online flow changes, and free content. According to the official update post, saved setups for GT3 and GT4 will no longer behave as expected because of the class rebuild.
What changed
Cars
- GT3 and GT4 received comprehensive handling overhauls covering BOP, suspension geometry, differentials, gear ratios, inertia, centre of gravity, turbo behaviour, aero sensitivity, tyre performance, brake heat, and brake duct setup options.
- New default setups were added for GT3 and GT4, including curated low-drag setups for Daytona and Brianza, plus a more stable Nürburgring Nordschleife setup.
- The free Aussie Rivals Pack adds the Holden Commodore VF to the AUS V8 class.
- AUS V8 also received a handling and tyre overhaul, plus aero sensitivity, inertia, centre of gravity, brake duct, brake heat, and default setup updates.
- Group 5 got improved turbo model/response and suspension feel.
- Vehicle-specific changes include default TC updates for the BMW M3 GTR (E46) and Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, plus improved tyre modelling for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992).
Online
- Join-in-Progress was added for active Practice and Qualifying sessions in Custom Lobbies.
- Ranked Online now notifies registered players when a race is about to start.
- Custom lobbies now support anti-cheat toggling and allow hosts to skip Practice sessions.
- Fixes were made for loading-screen hangs after disconnects and for lobby car/class restrictions not applying correctly.
AI opponents
- AI race starts, reactions, and pit strategy for fuel and tyres were improved.
- AI weather-restart behaviour was fixed.
- GT3, GT4, GT70, GT60, AUS V8, and Sports Car 67 received AI behaviour/speed adjustments.
Visual, VR, and triple-screen
- Cockpit-view stability was improved across multiple vehicles, alongside livery, animation, and interior texture fixes.
- Environment updates include shadow, tone-mapping, contrast, crowd, vegetation, reflection, and dynamic resolution improvements.
- VR received further fixes and configuration-related improvements.
- Triple-screen support enters early Alpha on PC.
Gameplay, UI, replays, and input
- Added DRS tooltips, ModHub manual refresh, FFB value change notifications, and Dynamic Resolution options.
- Replay spectator framerate and trackside camera stutter issues were fixed.
- Career Mode AUS V8 events now allow the Holden Commodore VF.
- Added support for several input devices, including Simsonn Plus X Pedals, PXN Vector X Pedals, Aiologs Shifter, LM-X Paddle Shifter, and LM-X Steering Wheel.
For our league ops, we should retest GT3/GT4/AUS V8 balance and setup baselines, confirm all drivers have the free Aussie Rivals Pack, and update lobby rules around Join-in-Progress and anti-cheat settings.

What's in this Update
Update 2.1 is one of the biggest updates for Project Motor Racing since launch, focused on handling, online flow, addressing player feedback, and adding free content. The GT3 and GT4 classes rebuild headlines this update, as these classes have been comprehensively rebuilt, with revised vehicle behaviour, Balance of Performance (BOP), suspension, gearing, inertia, centre of gravity, turbo behaviour, aero sensitivity, tyre performance, brake heat, and brake duct setup options. As a result, your saved setups will no longer work as expected. New defaults have been added to the game to help transition into this new era of handling for these classes in Project Motor Racing. The free Aussie Rivals Pack adds the Holden Commodore VF to the AUS V8 class, reuniting it with the reworked Ford Falcon FG for the classic Holden versus Ford rivalry. Online also moves forward with Join-in-Progress feature for active Practice and Qualifying sessions, plus a notifications system for Ranked Racing for when a race is about to start. AI opponents, car setups, art, environment, replays, input devices, HUD & UI elements all get updates, with the addition of further improvements made to VR. And finally, the triple-screen feature enters early Alpha phase. Keep reading for the headlights in this update.
The Big GT3 and GT4 Class Overhaul
The GT3 and GT4 classes have received a comprehensive handling overhaul designed to make both classes feel more authentic, balanced, and consistent. Vehicle behaviour has been revised across the class roster, including Balance of Performance (BOP), suspension geometry, differentials, gear ratios, inertia, centre of gravity, turbo behaviour, aerodynamic sensitivity, and tyre performance, all using real-world homologation data. Tyre and braking systems have also been expanded, with improvements to how temperature affects the tyre lifespan, grip, overheating status, scrubbing, severe wear, brake heat transfer, and adjustable brake ducts that affect both cooling and aero drag. Naturally-aspirated cars now benefit from intake ram-air simulation, while turbocharged cars receive revised turbo modelling. New default setups are also included, with curated low-drag setups for Daytona International Speedway and Brianza, plus a more stable Nürburgring Nordschleife setup.
Aussie Rivals Pack: Holden Joins the Fight
Back in March of this year, we released the Ford Falcon FG for free for all players. But something was missing. So now the Holden Commodore VF joins Project Motor Racing as part of the Aussie Rivals Pack, a free DLC pack for all players, bringing one of touring car racing’s great rivalries to the grid: Ford versus Holden. Now reunited under the "Aussie Rivals Pack" free DLC, the Holden Commodore VF enters the fight in Project Motor Racing to face off against its blue oval rival. Alongside the GT3 and GT4 overhaul, the AUS V8 class also receives a complete handling and tyre overhaul and updates to aero sensitivity, inertia, centre of gravity, brake ducts, brake heat behaviour, and new default setups. Career Mode events that permit the AUS V8 class have also been adjusted to allow for the use of the newly added Holden Commodore VF. Blue versus Red. Ford versus Holden. Bathurst arguments strongly encouraged. Watch the Aussie Rivals Pack release trailer here.
Join-in-Progress, Ranked Notifications, VR and Triple Screens
Update 2.1 also brings major quality-of-life improvements. A phased roll-out of the Join-in-Progress feature has been implemented in Custom Lobbies, allowing players to join supported sessions after they have already started. By visiting the Custom Lobby screen, players can see which lobbies are currently in Practice or Qualify sessions and drop straight into the action without having to wait for the host to return to the lobby. In addition, a notification system has also been introduced for Ranked Racing. This system alerts registered players when a race is about to begin, so they no longer need to stay locked to the registration screen. The VR feature introduced earlier in the year receives further fixes and improvements with configuration options now available, while triple-screen support arrives in early Alpha state for PC. Both features are still in active development and do not represent final quality.
